“Mariatu” is a common name in Sierra Leone, Africa and means “One who is pure and innocent” a positive minded person and authoritative. She is highly emotive, impulsive, and restless. She desires quick action. She is created out of solid wood which has been hand burned in tribal markings around the bottom. Her face is created out of clay. her bowl of treasures includes shells, porcupine needles, pods etc. The tiny beads she wears were brought back from my sister’s mission trip to Sierra Leone, Africa and the other beads are bone beads.
